99 Points, JebDunnuck.com: "I’d wager the wine of the vintage, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Few And Far Between Vineyard is knockout stuff and has incredible aromatics of spiced currants, leafy tobacco, crushed stone, flowers, and lead pencil shavings. It’s rare to find this level of purity and seamlessness in 2017, and this is full-bodied red has a deep, layered mid- palate, awesome tannins, and a great, great finish. If you want to taste the best of 2017 in Napa, this beauty is it.", Jeb Dunnuck, 2/16/23

VINEYARD NOTES:

Few and Far Between is one of three estate vineyards, all of which are farmed organically although they are not certified. The 5-acre Few and Far Between is tucked deep in a small valley in Calistoga. Just down a gentle slope is historic Eisele Vineyard, best known as the source of Araujo Estate's Cabernet Sauvignon and considered hallowed ground by many. This vineyard and her wines have garnered incredible praise from the world-famous wine writer, Mr. Robert Parker Jr. The pristine site, planted in rocky alluvial soils, is 90 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc.

VINTAGE NOTES:

The 2017 is very much like a combination of the magic qualities of the 2013 and 2016 vintages combined. Two incredible vintages almost fused into one 2017 vintage. The weather perfect, the fruit all picked and sitting deep underground, protected by massive stone and air filtration, my dedicated crew showed up despite some being displaced as the fires started and raged, not near us, but all around and meanwhile we were in a world of quiet, fortress like protection with perfect air deep in the mountain where the Hundred Acre RING winery resides, totally protected.

TASTING NOTES:

Deep garnet colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Few and Far Between prances out with fragrant earth and underbrush scents over a warm cassis and blackberry preserves core, plus wafts of unsmoked cigars and mossy tree bark. The medium to full-bodied palate reveals a perfumed, graceful expression of the vintage, featuring silky tannins and a lively backbone, finishing with a spicy kick.

COOPERAGE:

Aged for 24-30 months in the finest French oak barrique. The stave wood is hand-selected for ultra-tight grain, then air dried for three years before being made into barrels.
